Like many people, Olivia’s mum was confused about the NDIS and how the system worked. An NDIS plan doesn't always come with instructions or guidance, and much of the time it’s up to a participant or their guardian to learn how to best manage and use the plan. A case in point is the NDIS’s price guide – a complex document with many nuances. For example, what exactly is the difference between the Capital Building Daily Activities, Improved Daily Living and Daily Activities categories? Olivia’s mum simply felt overwhelmed.
After deciding to move her services to Blitzit Plan Manager, Olivia’s mum was able to sit down with our team members, who explained how her daughter’s plan worked, and what supports and services were available. They also worked out her daughter’s budget to determine what services she could engage within the allocated funds, and checked that she was happy with this approach. Importantly, they made sure that she left the meeting with no confusion, feeling confident that she now understood what to do.
As a Blitzit Plan Manager participant for more than three years, Olivia’s mum still frequently contacts us to ask questions and clarify concerns, because she knows she can trust the information our team provides. She can also now track her allocated budget to manage her daughter’s services and supports without overspending. This gives Olivia’s mum the best outcome possible for her daughter’s health and wellbeing, and ensures Olivia doesn’t miss out on any opportunities.
